There are lots of things you can make with a bra! So whether your hobby is sewing, card making, jewellery making or general crafting the only limitations are your imagination!
How do I sell the items when I've made them?
You don't need to worry about selling the items if craft fairs aren't your thing, as we can put you in touch with a local Breast Cancer support group who will happily collect the items from you to sell at their fundraising events.
I don't have any bras to craft with?
We can also help organise a supply of unwanted bras by finding a nearby shop or business where bra donations can be taken and then we will advertise on social media for bra donations.
With a busy job, I don't get to craft as often as I would like, but I help where I can and I decided to have a go at making a fairy for the fund raising. I was so pleased with her that I ended up keeping her but made a donation for the tutorial x
I am a passionate crafter and I love that I can tie my hobby of crafting with fundraising for such a good cause. This is Carolinah, I named her after two wonderful ladies who cared for my mum, Carol & Linah. My Mum, before she got Alzheimer's, was also a passionate crafter. It is obviously in our genes as my daughter is also hooked!
Angela asked me if I would redress a Barbie using bra material to help raise funds, I said I would have a go and I had so much fun I've gone on to make 12 "Brabies"! This is my favourite one, the bra was so pretty it made a fabulous outfit.
Having recently recovered from a double mastectomy, I had no need for any of my old bra's. So when I heard about the idea of raising money for Breast Cancer Support & Research using unwanted bras I had to get involved! I haven't crafted since I was a child but I had a go and came up with this keyring which I was thrilled about!. I am a mom and work full time so crafting time is limited, but that won't stop me, I am on a mission to find other crafters to help me make items out of my bras, (there are plenty of them!) so watch this space for how much we raise!
Annie is an experienced sewer, Karen also wanted to get involved but had not made anything like this before. So they did the project together and Karen learnt a new skill! The thread they used was from Annie's mum's sewing box, which was very poignant as Annie lost her mum to Breast Cancer, so she got comfort that her mum would be thrilled it was being used for such a good cause.
When I heard about fundraising by crafting with unwanted bras I wanted to get involved but wasn't sure what to do, Angela suggested I made small flowers out of lace to sew on some printed bags. I was thrilled with the results and really enjoyed the project.
I am (or was!) a non-crafter, crafting wasn't for me I would sooner be in the garden. But when Angela offered to show me how to make a few things out of bras, to raise money for Breast Cancer charities, how could I refuse! This fabulous fairy is what I made, I was thrilled and totally fell in love with crafting. I am a regular bra crafter now and have even joined a craft club!
I've been making hand stitched key rings/bag tags for some time so it was easv to substitute the material for bra lace. More examples can be seen on my facebook page Swardy's Knit & Stitch
I love crafting, especially card making. I made a pin cushion and created this poem to attach to it!
When I heard about Bracrafts I immediately wanted to get involved. I am a crafter and love creating new things. I am looking forward to making more fairies to raise funds for the amazing breast cancer charities.
